How Runner Jill Hattan Built Point Nine Trailside Eatery

I’m a mom. I’m a female business owner. I’m an innovator. I’m also a runner.

I started running after I had twin boys at 40. I figured I better step up my fitness to keep up with them!

When my family moved to Andover, I discovered the Redbud Trail. The more time I spent on the trail, the more surprised I was when people told me they didn’t know it existed. The Redbud Trail is not only a great piece of Kansas history, but a gorgeous and safe place for runners and families to enjoy the outdoors. I noticed there wasn’t much to do along the trail – no places to stop or activities along the way.

I couldn’t help but wonder if that was why the trail didn’t get the buzz I feel it deserves.

When my family travels to other cities, we always make it a point to check out the local trails and recreational spots. It didn’t take long for me to notice a significant lack of unique spots where people can eat, play, and enjoy the outdoors in Wichita. It became my personal mission to bring this dynamic space to Kansas.

My goal with Point Nine is to provide a lively spot along the Redbud Trail for families, runners, and cyclists to stop and enjoy our elevated weekend brunches, perfectly paired wines and vibrant open-air space. The eatery will dual as a gathering place with intimate events, engaging cooking demonstrations, and lounging around our fire pits with friends.

Much like my other businesses, people are at the heart of every venture I embark on. I want to create a space to enhance the lives of our Andover/Wichita neighbors and I believe Point Nine is the ideal way to make an impact on our community.  I am thrilled to be in a position to give back to the community where I live, work, and my kids attend school.

I invite you to come sit, sip, and celebrate the day.
